Lo tropical…lo caribeño…
Son temas que han sido abordados por artistas desde hace años, y ahora más que nunca, aunque casi siempre desde dos extremos: el colonial o el decolonial. Con Tropicaribastral propongo una mirada abstracta, sutil e íntima, cargada de emoción, que a la vez revela el trasfondo sociopolítico del exotismo impuesto sobre nuestros recursos naturales para para así justificar la explotación y el despojo sistemático especialmente de nuestras playas.
Tropicaribastral abarca una suerte de ADN caribeño-tropical teñido de nostalgia porque a los que migramos, esto nos es ineludible. Sin embargo, la nostalgia no empaña con su presencia el vasto y magnífico aporte que el migrar me ha regalado y que, persiste y se manifiesta sutilmente en cada obra.
Con este cuerpo de obras procuro dar forma a elementos esenciales de mi identidad. Que sean estas obras, un punto de convergencia desde el cual pueda afirmar:
YO SOY ESPÍRITU; YO SOY ALMA; YO SOY AMOR;
YO SOY CUERPO; YO SOY CARIBE; YO VENGO DEL TRÓPICO Y SOY INMIGRANTE.

DESCRIPCIÓN DE PROYECTO TROPICARIBASTRAL
El nombre Tropicaribastral encierra un cuerpo de trabajo que será dividido en capítulos, así como en una serie de TV, donde Tropicaribastral es la serie y cada capitulo tendrá su nombre individual conectado de alguna manera al tema principal. Hasta este momento he desarrollado 4 capítulos:
1-Why not.
2-Sueño que estoy aquí.
3-…que toda la vida es sueño, y los sueños, sueños son.
4-Divertimento.
5-Another magical day.
6-Cantando al sol.
7-Cantando al mar.
8-Mamey
9-Verdes vientos
Este proyecto lo iré desarrollando en el tiempo como un “ongoing project” paralelamente a otros proyectos, es decir, que no tiene una fecha final.
Tampoco, en su aspecto formal, tiene limitación de medio. Uso los recursos que antes he usado como: pintura, técnica mixta sobre tela y madera; dibujo, acuarela y lápiz de color sobre papel; esculturas; videoarte. También experimentaré con materiales y/o medios que nunca he usado en mi carrera como el vidrio y plásticos reciclados entre otros.

CONCEPTUAL THEME
TROPICARIBASTRAL SERIES
The tropical...the Caribbean...
These are themes that have been addressed by artists for years, and now more than ever, although almost always from two extremes: the colonial or the decolonial. With Tropicaribastral, I propose an abstract, subtle, and intimate perspective, charged with emotion, which simultaneously reveals the sociopolitical undercurrent of the exoticism imposed on our natural resources to justify the systematic exploitation and dispossession, especially of our beaches.
Tropicaribastral encompasses a sort of Caribbean-tropical DNA tinged with nostalgia because for those of us who migrate, this is inescapable. However, nostalgia does not tarnish the vast and magnificent contribution that migration has given me, which persists and is subtly manifested in each work.
With this body of work, I seek to give shape to essential elements of my identity. May these works be a point of convergence from which I can affirm:
I AM SPIRIT; I AM SOUL; I AM LOVE;
I AM BODY; I AM CARIBBEAN; I COME FROM THE TROPICS AND I AM AN IMMIGRANT.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION TROPICARIBASTRAL
The name Tropicaribastral encompasses a body of work that will be divided into chapters, similar to a TV series. Tropicaribastral is the series, and each chapter will have its own individual name, somehow connected to the main theme. So far, I have developed four chapters:
1 - Why not?
2 - I dream that I am here?
3 - ...that all life is a dream, and dreams are dreams.
4-Divertimento
5-Another Magical Day
6-Singing to the Sun
7-Singing to the Sea
8-Mamey
9-Green Winds
I will develop this project over time as an ongoing project, in parallel with other projects; that is, it doesn't have a final date.
Nor does it have a formal medium limitation. I use the resources I've used before, such as: painting, mixed media on canvas and wood; drawing, watercolor and colored pencil on paper; sculpture; and video art. I will also experiment with materials and/or media I've never used in my career, such as glass and recycled plastics, among others.
