El festival PHOTOIMAGEN, organizado por la Fundación Imagen 83, celebra este año su 8va edición. Desde su nacimiento en el 2006, PHOTOIMAGEN se ha convertido en una plataforma de proyección de la fotografía –en y desde la República Dominicana– contribuyendo al posicionamiento del país en el mapa artístico internacional. Un evento en el que participan artistas nacionales e internacionales de cara a fomentar el diálogo multicultural. A lo largo de estas ocho ediciones han sido países invitados Francia, Estados Unidos, Cuba y México.
El festival tiene repartidas sus sedes a lo largo de la geografía nacional: participan centros culturales, museos, galerías y otros espacios expositivos. Enfocado en la investigación y el fomento de la fotografía contemporánea, es el único festival internacional de fotografía del Caribe.
PHOTOIMAGEN 2018 tendrá a España como país invitado de honor y será celebrado, en esta oportunidad dentro de la programación de la VI edición de Semanas de España.

The PHOTOIMAGEN festival, organized by the Imagen 83 Foundation, celebrates its 8th edition this year. Since its birth in 2006, PHOTOIMAGEN has become a platform for projection of photography -in and from the Dominican Republic- contributing to the positioning of the country in the international artistic map. An event in which national and international artists participate in order to promote multicultural dialogue. Throughout these eight editions, France, the United States, Cuba and Mexico have been invited.
The festival has its headquarters spread throughout the national geography: cultural centers, museums, galleries and other exhibition spaces participate. Focused on research and the promotion of contemporary photography, it is the only international photography festival in the Caribbean.
PHOTOIMAGEN 2018 will have Spain as the guest country of honor and will be celebrated, this time within the programming of the VI edition of Weeks of Spain.
